Rob Hunter will lead Garforth Town for a third term next season after successful talks with the club’s owners.
The news that the former Glasshoughton Welfare boss was remaining in charge of the East Leeds-based club was revealed at the club’s presentation night.
Hunter has done a solid job since his ascent to the throne in May 2015, having carried on Adrian Costello’s work of rebuilding a team that was stripped bare nearly three years ago.
After steading the ship last season, Hunter guided the Miners to their highest finish since their return to the NCEL in 2013 a few weeks ago.
This was achieved, despite major fixture scheduling problems and the fact that Hunter was victim to a harsh and controversial four month stadium ban following a storm in a teacup with an assistant referee.
Hunter twice resigned during those four months, but both times the owners Craig Bannister and Brian Close rejected his resignations.
Hunter and his number two Mark Smitheringale are hopeful of landing several top signings in the summer, as well as retaining most of their current squad.
Fans will want to see the likes of stellar players Mark Simpson, Dan Coupland, Lee Turner and captain marvel James Beaston, among others, stay at the club.
