Stocksbridge Park Steels manager Chris Hilton
Chris Hilton has been hailed for his work over the past four years at Stocksbridge Park Steels by vice-chairman Graham Furness.
Former Worsbrough Bridge manager Hilton enters his fifth campaign in charge of the Bracken Moor club with a long list of achievements – from reaching the play-offs, historic FA Trophy runs and the sale of Harrison Biggins to Fleetwood Town.
“He’s the mainstay of the club, we play attractive football and for the budget we have, some of our performances have been exceptional for the last four years,” Mr Furness told Non League Yorkshire.
“He has done everything the club has for asked of him in the last four years.
“He came in to steady the ship and he steadied it. Then he improved the team. He did well last season until the last six weeks when the weather hit everyone.
“We also had injuries and that’s when it becomes a problem with the budget he has because you don’t have the strength in depth.
“Chris has done a fantastic job and if people are realistic, top ten is where we probably should be on our budget so he’s had us punching above our weight.
“When we appointed him, there were other young managers out there doing well, but we looked at what he was doing with Worsbrough with no money and we thought ‘he’s the one for us’ and it has proved to be the right appointment.
“I think with Chris’s knowledge in transfer market, we can push for the play-offs at least again next season.”
