Toolstation NCEL Division One
Powerful forward Andy Horbury has given Glasshoughton Welfare a major boost after turning down a host of other clubs to remain at Leeds Road.
Horbury was a key artery in the Glasshoughton outfit which stunned many to pip the likes of Christian Fox’s Selby Town, Hallam and Campion to claim the final play-offs spot last season.
During his two years with Glasshoughton, the youngster has gone from being an unknown quantity to a leading player in the Division – hence major interest from clubs from higher Divisions wanting to secure his signature.
Horbury did consider his options for a few weeks, but in the end he has shown loyalty to Darren Holmes and Lee Vigars who gave him his chance in the NCEL.
The news comes ahead of Welfare’s first home friendly of the summer on Tuesday night when they host Albion Sports.
