Goal-scoring midfielder Ash Emmett has signed for Worsbrough Bridge as he bids to return to full-fitness.
Bridge manager Lee Morris has described the signing as “exciting” and said it again shows how much progress his club have made by the fact someone of Emmett’s quality wants to sign for them.
Emmett kept grabbing the headlines for Premier Division title winners Pontefract Collieries at the start of last season before breaking his leg in a Sunday League match.
“He’s played five or six times for his Sunday side Westville and now he’s looking to step up his work rate,” Morris told Non League Yorkshire.
“He wants to get back to where he was and he’s got some good mates at Worsbrough like Kieran Hirst.
“I know Ponte are keen to get him back at some stage, but while we have him it is a massive bonus for us.
“He did really well for Ponte and he’s another lad in our squad that has played higher. It is definitely an exciting signing and it shows we are moving in the right direction.
“He probably wouldn’t have come to us last season. A lot of players are now ringing us and wanting to come and play for Worsbrough.
“Last season, once as Worsbrough was mentioned on the phone, players were like ‘yeah I’m alright mate, thanks’ and wouldn’t sign.”
