Phil back at Sharpe end with Goole

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Phil Sharpe guided Bradford (Park Avenue) to a NPL President’s Cup triumph in 2006

Former Bradford (Park Avenue) and Frickley Athletic manager Phil Sharpe is back in a number one position after a reshuffle at Goole AFC.

Sharpe is now running the side with ex-Selby boss Nigel Emery as Steven Jeff has decided to concentrate on playing and coaching. Jeff is now first team coach.

Sharpe last managed Aberford Albion in the West Yorkshire League a few years ago. He did offer his services to Garforth Town in November 2015 in a ‘White Knight’ caretaker capacity after Graham Nicholas went to Ossett Town and took seven players with him. He was interviewed, almost three years to this day, but Garforth ultimately chose to appoint Adrian Costello.

Prior to Aberford, Sharpe proved himself as a manager who could succeed with limited resources, with Frickley, Bradford, Ossett Town and Harrogate Railway being his success stories.

Frickley in the early 2000s is arguably his biggest success as he had one of the lowest budgets in the league for a couple of seasons, but still kept them in the NPL Premier Division.
