Ossett United have won the race to sign Bradford (Park Avenue) legend Tom Greaves following his exit from Hyde United.
Greaves is one of the prolific and well known Non League strikers in West Yorkshire and will certainly add goals to Ossett’s team. Until August he was also player/manager of FC United of Manchester, despite being only just over the age of 30.
Greaves is best known in West Yorkshire for his association with Bradford, with whom he had two stints with. He made his Avenue debut at the age of 16 under former Leeds United forward Carl Shutt in 2005 in the Conference North. He went onto play for Shutt’s successors Gary Brook and Phil Sharpe before leaving and playing for the likes of Garforth Town and Ossett Town.
He returned to Avenue for the brief Simon Collins era. He then stayed when John Deacey returned and he went onto secure his place in Avenue folklore by scoring the 120th minute winner against FC United in the NPL Premier Division play-off final. to send his local team up into the Conference North.
