West Riding County Cup
High-flying Knaresborough Town knocked the holders Farsley Celtic out in the second round after a 4-2 penalty shootout victory.
After two years of domination from Farsley, there will be a new name on the trophy after Knaresborough held their nerve to beat the Evo Stik Premier Division side.
Paul Stansfield’s men gave a great account of themselves. Nick Black and Brad Walker fired them into a brilliant 2-0 lead before Ben Atkinson pulled a goal back for Farsley, who had almost all of their big guns out.
Gregg Anderson restored Knaresborough’s two goal lead, but Farsley hit back in the second half to take the tie to penalties thanks to goals from Atkinson and Danny Ellis.
Phil Sharpe’s Goole AFC were desperately unlucky after losing 4-2 on penalties to FC Halifax Town following a 3-3 humdinger.
Chris Ovington and Josh Schofield fired Goole into a dream 2-0 lead by the hour mark. However, Halifax turned it around to go 3-2 in front. That’s how it stayed until Adam Lund’s 95th minute equaliser to take it to penalties.
