Conor Glavin, the son of one of Emley’s greatest ever managers, is going to be playing for the club this season.
Glavin’s father Ronnie, the ex-Celtic and Barnsley star who guided Emley to their famous FA Cup third round tie with West Ham at Upton Park in 1998.
Emley gave their Premier League opponents a fright in the 2-1 defeat having equalised in the second half through Paul David. Ultimately John Hartson’s late winner spared West Ham’s blushes.
Two of that great Emley team are part of the club’s new management team. Mark Wilson is joint manager and the captain Steve Nicholson is the club’s assistant manager.
Central midfielder Glavin spent last season with Penistone Church and boasts an excellent record of goals and assists – most notably from his stint with Glasshoughton Welfare.
