Bradford (Park Avenue) have sacked player/manager Garry Thompson following the club’s disastrous opening two games in the National North.
Avenue began the new campaign with a 5-0 thrashing at Curzon Ashton, followed by the defeat by the same score-line at home to local neighbours Guiseley on Tuesday night.
His assistant Shaun Gardner has also left.
The news of their exits is hardly a surprise.
Few will be surprised if Avenue persuade Mark Bower to return as manager, along with his assistant Danny Boshell.
The former Guiseley promotion-winning manager worked wonders at Horsfall during his almost three-year reign. He kept them up against the odds in his first before in his second full campaign guided them to the play-offs on a low budget, weeks before his surprise exit in May.
Bower, or whoever replaces Thompson, will find Avenue in a similar position to the one they were in during the 2016/17 season when Alex Meechan was let go after a short spell in charge.
