Rob Bordman scored a trademark 40-yard strike to provide lift-off for Emley AFC in the North West Counties.
Bordman, one of the most feared Yorkshire-based Non League strikers of the past decade, struck on the hour mark to hand Emley a 1-0 victory over Chadderton at the Welfare Ground.
The win is the first of the Richard Tracey/Mark Wilson era.
Bordman’s fan club will not have been surprised by his heroics as he’s scored 40-yard goals for Wakefield, Ossett Albion, Worsbrough Bridge and perhaps, most famously for Ossett Town.
His latest goal was unsurprisingly special. Picking the ball up just inside Chadderton half, Bordman spotted the visiting goalkeeper off-the-line and went for broke. The goalkeeper couldn’t get back and the ground erupted.
Fittingly it won the game for Emley.
An own goal gave them the lead, but Steeton were beaten 3-1 at Garstang.
