Jason Dodsworth is thrilled that Nostell Miners Welfare seem to have found their ruthless striker from within their own ranks.
Danny Edwards has been promoted from Ian Walker’s under 21s and has scored five goals in four games – with the latest two coming in the 4-1 Toolstation NCEL Division One victory over Campion.
“We fetched Calum Ward in and obviously Danny was already with us in the under 21s,” Dodsworth told Non League Yorkshire.
“We knew all about Danny and how good he is. It was ‘could he make the step-up to this level’?
“It has took it in his stride and he’s showing he can. He’s playing really well and the kid has great ability.
“We always knew about him from him scoring lots of goals with the under 21s. He’s strong, good in the air and not scared of a tackle. It is fantastic that we have given someone from the under 21s a chance and that they have taken it.”
A trip to East Hull awaits Nostell on Tuesday.
The bottom-placed side were on the receiving end of a massacre at Hall Road Rangers on Saturday as nine without reply were put past them.
But Dodsworth says they will not read anything into that result.
“We don’t take teams for granted.” he said.
“We never go into any game thinking about a team’s previous result. They could turn a totally different team out. They could have eleven different players out.
“We’ll go into the game in the same way we did as Saturday.”
