Luke Mangham withstood huge pressure to score a brilliantly executed penalty to fire Stocksbridge Park Steels to a 3-2 derby day win over Sheffield FC.
The last gasp penalty ensures a perfect start to the BetVictor South East campaign for Stocksbridge ahead of the FA Cup weekend.
It was a topsy-turvy derby as Sheffield had led twice. Michael Williams had given them an early lead before the in-form Mangham quickly equalised.
A chaotic start to the second half saw Mitch Dunne score from the penalty spot for Sheffield after a handball.
Again Stocksbridge responded straight-away. A free-flowing move ended with Scott Ruthven.
2-2 is how it remained until a handball enabled Mangham to be the hero.
Frickley Athletic lost 3-1 at Grant Black’s Belper Town. Sam Liversidge gave Frickley the lead, but goals from old boy Danny South, Nathan Curtis and Steven McDonnell earned Belper their win.
