Ice cool Rhys Meynell scored a penalty to set exceptional Nostell Miners Welfare on their way to an impressive 2-0 at promotion rivals Winterton Rangers.
The result is a great response to Saturday’s shock defeat at Rossington and knocks the wind out of Winterton’s sails.
Winterton could have gone top of the Toolstation NCEL Division One, but Nostell showed guts to pull off their fifth league win in six matches.
Nostell were brilliant. In the first half, Jack Cowgill had a header cleared off the line, Rich Collier went close twice.
It took Meynell’s penalty on the stroke of half-time to break the deadlock. Winterton were also reduced to ten men before the break as Jamie Ture was shown a second yellow card.
Collier was involved with the goal which sealed their victory. His superb through ball sent Kane Reece away and the former Pontefract Collieries promotion-winner scored.
