Worsbrough Bridge have added a bit of panache into their side with the capture of Shaw Lane icon Joe Thornton.
Thornton returns to his hometown of Barnsley after a year at Handsworth.
He is one of Barnsley’s favourite Non League sons because of his spells with Shaw Lane and Athersley where he won countless medals.
Thornton also got to the FA Vase semi-finals with Staveley and also boasts as an exceptional record as a goalkeeper.
Joining Worsbrough means he links up with his very close friend and confidante Lee Morris, who played with at Shaw Lane and played under at Goole AFC and Frickley Athletic.
