Wayne Benn’s Hemsworth Miners Welfare are up to second in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after beating old rivals AFC Mansfield 2-1 in Fitzwilliam.
The Wells were on the front-foot straightaway as poor defending enabled Matty Hughes to break clear and score with ease.
Seon Ripley and Sidney Santos both had chances to double their lead, but the Wells had to wait until the second half to score again.
The goal was worth waiting for though as Santos rifled home a spell-binding effort into one of the top corners from long distance.
Ross Duggan set-up a nervy finale, but Hemsworth held out.
