Mohammed Qasim’s double helped unstoppable Campion controversially won 3-2 at promotion rivals Selby Town to record their eight successive Toolstation NCEL Division One victory.
The game was quite a see-saw contest. Qasim broke clear in the eighth minute to put Campion ahead. The visitors were quickly pinned back as red hot Chris Jackson headed home.
Campion led at the break, albeit with some controversy over the ball had crossed the goal-line. Qasim’s strike hit the crossbar and bounced down. There was plenty of doubt over whether it had gone over, the officials awarded the goal.
The goal and the officials’ upset Selby assistant manager Jonny Bruce and he was ejected from the dugout after being shown a red card.
The decisive third goal came at the start of the second half. Former Albion Sports striker Danny Facey outmuscled Ryan Gothard to race clear and score.
Jackson then brought Selby back into it with a penalty after Flanagan had been fouled.
Selby threw everything at Campion, but were unable to find a breakthrough.
Campion are now four points clear in second place.
Injury-stricken Nostell Miners Welfare lost 1-0 at North Ferriby whose debutant Andy Taylor got their goal.
If the assistant ref had been up with play the so called goal would not have been allowed.
