Kieran Hirst got two goals as Worsbrough Bridge bounced back from Saturday’s defeat to Brigg Town by comfortably beating Rossington Main 4-2 at Park Road.
The win places Worsbrough on the cusp of the Toolstation NCEL Division One top ten and leaves Rossington fourth bottom and needing an outstanding run of results to even make a break for the top half.
Worsbrough were out of sight by half-time after racing into a 3-0 half-time lead. Rossington goalkeeper Jan Budtz was a busy man and he could not prevent Ash Emmett heading Bridge in front in the 17th minute.
Hirst converted a penalty to double the lead before Sam Race headed home from a cross from the right.
A Niall Doran goal direct from a cross brought Rossington back into it on the hour, but the two goal deficit remained only briefly as Hirst scored another penalty.
Budtz made more saves after saves and Worsbrough even had a further goal disallowed before Tyla Bell rounded home goalkeeper Dan Morton to reduce the deficit late-on.
Worsbrough face heavily injury-hit Nostell Miners Welfare on Friday night at Crofton Community Centre.
