Man of the match Adam Priestley got his first Yorkshire Amateur goal as his club stormed to a 6-1 victory at Maltby Main.
Priestley fired the Ammers ahead in the sixth minute of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash after latching onto key man Matt Dempsey’s magnificent spell-binding pass.
Niall Heaton’s header from a corner doubled the lead and it was soon three when Steve Crawford continued his fine progression from the West Yorkshire League with a 25-yard peach of a strike.
Matty Sykes’ penalty ensured the Ammers had a commanding 4-0 half-time lead.
The visitors did not waste any time in the second half. Priestley set up for Sykes for the fifth minutes into the second stanza.
Crawford scored again before Robbie Foster pulled a goal back.
Nathan Keightley’s late equaliser ensured Penistone Church will be top of the table at Christmas following the pulsating 2-2 draw with rivals Liversedge.
Alfie Raw’s penalty in the 81st minute had appeared to have won it for ‘Sedge until one of their former players intervened.
Raw had also given Jonathan Rimmington’s men a first half lead – one which was cancelled out by Kieran Ryan.
Asa Mitchell secured a point for Thackley in the 2-2 stalemate with Silsden.
Mitchell struck in the second half to cancel out Laurence Surhaindo and Matthias Britton’s goals for Silsden. Ryan Basi was also on the score-sheet for Thackley in the first half.
Rossington Main moved further clear of the relegation zone after beating Worsbrough Bridge 2-0. Adam Watson and Masassa Kianga got second second half goals in the only Division One game involving Yorkshire sides.
