Tom Greaves got a double as Ossett United pulled clear of the BetVictor North West relegation zone again after eventually winning 4-2 over Widnes at Ingfield.
After a goal-less first half, the game sprang into life when Luke Porritt book the deadlock. Porritt was involved again for the second as he was brought down, allowing Greaves to score from the penalty spot.
By this time, Widnes had been reduced to ten men as Sam Sheen was shown a second yellow card. But that did not stop the visitors pulling a goal back.
James Knowles’ header from a Corey Gregory corner restored the two-goal advantage, but Widnes came back again with a converted penalty.
Greaves finally eased Ossett home in the final few minutes when Nick Guest sent him through.
Pickering Town picked up a useful point from the 2-2 draw at Clitheroe. An own goal and a Danny Earl spectacular goal earned the Pikes their point.
James Baxendale’s double and Spencer Clarke’s goal did Ossett and Pickering a favour as Pontefract Collieries beat strugglers Dunston 3-0.

Frickley Athletic’s promotion bid in the South East remains strong as Jonathon Margett’s hour mark goal saw them to a 1-0 win over Stamford.
Luke Mangham, Scott Ruthven and Josh Nodder earned Stocksbridge Park Steels a 3-1 victory at the expense of Wisbech Town.
