Wright’s back after signing for Hemsworth

Former Worsbrough Bridge manager Josh Wright is back after signing as a player for Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

Wright, who will sure make the dressing room a lively place(!), had a year out last season, but comes to Fitzwilliam with plenty of solid Non League pedigree from spells with Ossett Albion, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Staveley Miners Welfare and Goole AFC.

Wright and fellow midfielder Ben Walker, the former Ossett Albion man who arrived from Athersley Rec are the opening two new signings of Luke Danville and Luke Potter’s reign as joint managers.

Further new signings are expected tonight (Sunday evening).

Of course Hemsworth will be field a slightly different team to previous years as stalwarts Nash Connolly and Harry Viggars are among the seven players who are confirmed to have left the club.

But there are many further positives as several other key players have re-signed.

Experienced left-back Steven Jeff, versatile man Owen Wildblood, forward Layton Swaine, winger Matty Hughes and playmaker Jay Davies are staying.

Exciting winger Adam Knight signs, but can only play until he goes back to America to a coaching job.
