New star man Earl gets hat-trick for Brid

New Bridlington Town striker Danny Earl

New star striker Danny Earl hit a hat-trick as Bridlington Town came from behind to beat Beverley Town.

Former Selby Town and Armthorpe Welfare midfielder Jason Crisp had given Beverley, managed by ex-Brid player coach Mike Thompson, an early lead.

Earl quickly responded and scored again to give Brid a half-time 2-1 lead. Earl completed his treble by the hour mark and efforts from Joe McFadyen (2) and Matthew Broadley took the tally to six.

Adam Bowes reduced the deficit late-on before Billy Logan struck in the last minute for Brid.

Brid’s clash with Beverley was one of many friendlies taking behind closed doors.

There is hope the ban on spectators will end soon with the Government preparing to hold trial runs this weekend at larger sporting events.

However, North West Counties outfit Charnock Richard being forced to cease football activity at all levels for two weeks after a first team player tested positive for Covid-19 under-lines just how fragile the situation is and how patient the Non League Football community needs to be.

Liversedge flew out of the blocks in their first pre-season friendly by beating Horbury Town 5-0.

Paul Walker, Nicky Boshell, Ollie Fearon, Jack Hardacre and James Ngoe were on the score-sheet.

A goal in the first half from Jonathan Hill and a strike in the second from new striker Mitch Dunne secured Maltby Main a 2-0 win over Ecclesfield Red Rose.

Liam Stevens was at the double as a very young Nostell Miners Welfare side triumphantly left Littletown with an impressive 4-1 victory.

Liam Ormsby and Wasiu Hussein were Nostell’s other goal-scorers.

Shane Kelsey’s Athersley Rec celebrated a 3-2 victory over Jubilee Sports.

Yorkshire Amateur were beaten 1-0 by Albion Sports.
