Fogarty nets against old club as Ammers win

Ex-Harrogate Railway striker Roy Fogarty’s first half penalty against his old club gifted Yorkshire Amateur a solitary goal win at Station View.

The Ammers hit the woodwork twice and had other chances, but Railway chief Mick O’Connell will have been delighted his mostly youthful side acquitted themselves very well against one of the teams tipped to win promotion out of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.

The friendly was a 12.30pm kick off so it was one of the first matches attended by spectators since March. 

Just under 50 people watched Alex Rippon score twice as Parkgate came from behind to beat Renishaw 2-1.

Adam Haw brought Emley level early on at Worksop Town, but Richard Tracey’s men were beaten 4-1 at Sandy Lane.

Joe Austin popped up just in time for Maltby Main with an unstoppable strike to secure a 1-0 win at Dinnington Town.

Worsbrough Bridge suffered a devastating blow at Golcar United as key centre-back Billy Rhodes sustained a broken ankle in the 37th minute. 

The injury caused the abandonment of the friendly which Golcar were winning 3-0.

Joe Walton’s hour mark goal was difference in Liversedge’s 2-1 success on the road at Stockton Town. Alfie Raw’s seventh minute opener was cancelled out.

Eccleshill United were on the cusp of beating Farsley Celtic after Dominic Staunton had placed them. However, Adam Lakeland’s Farsley equalised with 20 minutes to go.

Handsworth lost 2-0 to a very strong NPL Premier Division Grantham Town team who scored one in each half at Olivers’ Mount.

Joel Statham was Swallownest’s goal-scorer in the 1-1 draw with Clay Cross Town.

Frickley Athletic lost 2-1 to Shildon, despite Brad Grayson’s wonderful free kick.

Campion were defeated 3-0 at home to established NPL outfit Mossley.

Danny Earl’s goal was a mere consolation in Bridlington Town’s 3-1 loss to Grant Black’s Belper Town.
