John Cyrus scored two as Liversedge underlined their title credentials by giving higher league Tadcaster Albion a nightmare afternoon.
Jonathan Rimmington’s men won 3-0 at Clayborn and his side look well-tuned going into Tuesday night’s FA Cup extra preliminary round tie at Irlam Town.
The first half finished goal-less, but Cyrus missed from close range and Tadcaster had a brief flurry of chances midway through the half.
Ex-Frickley Athletic centre-back Cyrus, one of ‘Sedge’s marquee signings, made up for the miss straight after the interval as he headed home a free kick.
Just after the hour mark, Cyrus scored again with a header, this time from a corner.
Carl Stewart almost added the third against his former club late-on before Olly Fearon actually did in the final minute.
