Lee Garside’s last gasp volley secured a draw for Athersley Rec who staged a late revival to draw 2-2 with Parkgate at Sheerian Park.

Andy Dawson’s Parkgate had raced into an early two-goal lead. A trialist hit the opener and their captain Simon Harrison, the very experienced midfielder, curled home a free kick for the second.

The Rec found their way back into the friendly through an Elliott Simpson own goal in the 80th minute. Former Worsbrough Bridge and Ossett Town striker Garside then rescued a draw.

North Ferriby encountered the same luck as Parkgate as they were involved in a very respectable 2-2 draw with three leagues higher Gainsborough Trinity.

Scott Phillips and Danny East had put Ferriby in command against Curtis Woodhouse’s side until two goals in three minutes midway through the second half denied them.

A late blitz of goals saw Frickley Athletic claim a 5-0 victory at Bridlington Town.

New signing Nathan Jarman made his mark with an eighth minute and his effort was followed up by Brad Grayson, Nyle Blake, James Hugo and Josh McLaughlan in the second half.

Nostell Miners Welfare surrendered a two-goal lead in the 3-2 defeat at Ollerton Town. Charlie Thompson and Ashley Austin were on the score-sheet for Ian Walker’s side.

Silsden and Thackley suffered defeats. Thackley lost by the solitary goal to National North outfit Guiseley, while a last minute strike saw Silsden lose 2-1 to Padiham. Myles Foley got Silsden’s goal.

Campion beat Middleton 6-1, while Stocksbridge Park Steels battled out a goal-less draw at Sherwood Colliery.

There were also two games on Friday night.

Leon Howarth and Kyle Jordan scored in the last ten minutes as Handsworth overcame Dronfield Town at Olivers Mount.

Over at Penistone Church, Brighouse Town won 2-0 as well through second half goals from Joe Jagger and Jack Boyle.
