Layton Swaine was the hero and the final goal-scorer on grass at Hemsworth Miners Welfare as they continued their perfect league start.
Swaine scored the winner with six minutes of the 2-1 victory over Knaresborough Town.
The goal is the final goal on the grass pitch at Hemsworth as a 3G pitch is set to start being installed this week.
The Wells struck first against Knaresborough, ten minutes into the second half. Sidney Santos kept his composure to score after breaking clear. Paul Stansfield’s Knaresborough equalised via the penalty spot and Dan Thirkell’s successful spot kick.
A draw was on the cards until Swaine converted Declan Parker’s cross with just six minutes remaining.
Marley Grant sparked scenes of jubilation as he fired home Jamie Austin’s corner to rescue a last minute 2-2 draw for Handsworth at Grimsby Borough.
Handsworth had taken the lead in the away trip as Kyle Jordan finished after Leon Howarth flicked on Alfie Eagle’s cross. But Grimsby equalised and went ahead before the break through a penalty.
