Dan Nichols was the hero as East Hull continued their remarkable revival with a stunning 1-0 victory at Worsbrough Bridge in Division One.

Hull only finished with one point before the lockdown last season and many expected them to struggle again. However, the wins over Armthorpe Welfare and Worsbrough, along with the narrow loss at Retford have dispelled those fears.

Hull had to contend with Worsbrough bringing back heavy artillery in the shape of sharp shooters Kieran Hirst and Kai Hancock to play alongside Jack Mawson and Tom Foltyn-Brown for the midweek fixture.

They even survived a major first half scare as Worsbrough missed a penalty as well.

Hull’s moment of glory came in the 53rd minute when Nichols leaped to head home a corner.

That was all Hull needed as there failed to be a comeback from Worsbrough, whose manager Lee Morris, wearing the number six jersey, was red carded late-on.

Josh Buckham was the last gasp hero for Rossington Main who picked up their first win over the season with the 3-2 victory over Retford.

The topsy-turvy clash saw Jack Watson and Tyla Bell put Rossington ahead after falling behind in the first half. Retford equalised, but Rossington prevented a draw by the nicking the win.

Liam Flanagan scored Selby Town’s goal in the 4-1 home defeat to Skegness Town.
