Maltby Main came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at Thackley – an incredible result considering attacker Jonathan Hill had to play in goal.
Circumstances meant Maltby had no recognised goalkeeper for the trip to Bradford and it was turning into a nightmare afternoon when Thackley raced into a solid early lead through Morgan Butcher and Asa Mitchell.
Two goals in the final five minutes of the first half from Mitch Dunne and Connor Cutts placed Maltby level.
A penalty on the hour mark allowed Maltby to lead for the first time. New signing Aiden Nagi was brought down and Johnathan Williams converted the spot kick.
Will Alderton hit the post as Thackley searched for the equaliser, but Maltby held on and Dunne sealed it in the final few minutes after netting from Nagi’s cross.
Rampant Garforth Town scored after ten seconds and went onto incredibly beat fancied Grimsby Borough 5-1 to continue their perfect start to the campaign.
The Miners ripped Grimsby apart in the opening 15 minutes as Charlie Marshall scored after ten seconds, Dan Coupland after 11 minutes and Lee Turner after 15.
New signing Joe Thornton scored twice either side of half-time. The only blot in their copybook was Grimsby’s last minute consolation.
Garforth have won all three of their league games and it is believed to be their best start to a league season since the 1996/97 campaign.
Penistone Church ran riot at Bottesford Town with a 4-1 victory – Jordan Coduri, Kieran Ryan, Sam Scrivens and Brett Lovell scored.
Knaresborough Town lost 2-0 at Barton Town.
