Tadcaster Albion are a step closer to the FA Cup first round proper after overcoming Mossley on penalties.

Paul Quinn’s side are into the third qualifying round and two more victories will see them reach the prestigious round. The latest achievement is still significant as Tad have only reached the third qualifying round once before.

Omar was the hero in the 4-3 victory in the shootout as he hit the decisive spot kick after Mossley missed twice. Debutant young goalkeeper Will Appleyard saved one and another went over the crossbar.

Tadcaster drew blood in normal time. Ify Ofoegbu fired Tad ahead in the 13th minute as he shot into the far corner after Andy Milne teed him up from a short corner.

The lead was short-lived as Dylan Fitzgerald headed home from a Mossley corner.

There were nervy moments at both ends as the game progressed and Appleyard made a terrific save during stoppage time before the shootout.
