Dodworth hit ten man Houghton for four

Dodworth Miners Welfare romped to a 4-0 victory at ten-man Houghton Main, who were rocked by the departure of manager Luke Forgione to Worsbrough Bridge earlier in the week.

Unbeaten leaders Dodworth continued to prove they are not a bad side and a dazzling second half display overpowered Houghton whose stalwart defender James Byford was red carded during the onslaught.

Liam Owen’s first half penalty set Dodworth on course to victory, but it was not until the second stanza that they went up in gears.

Aaron Brotherton took advantage of a goalkeeper spillage to double the lead. 

Byford then went for an early bath after the red mist descended on him after he got muscled off the ball and pulled back the dangerous Jack Owen. 

After Byford accepted his fate and contemplated his upcoming suspension as he made the very long walk off, Owen buried the penalty.

Danny Barlow wrapped the win after a good move saw him make his way into the box and after a dummy shot, the forward sent the home goalkeeper the wrong way.

Jed Wilkinson and Samuel Amissah both scored doubles in Wakefield AFC’s 4-1 victory at Stocksbridge Park Steels reserves.

Jake Simon and The Iceman Danny Frost’s wingman Kieran Hirst (penalty) got the goals for Wombwell Main who beat local rivals North Gawber 2-1.

Girey Alidu (2) and Jordan Stacey hit the target for Jubilee Sports in the 3-1 success at Sheffield Town FC.

Justin Greenwood (2) and Sam Hanna guided Swinton Athletic to a 3-0 victory ay Hepworth United.

Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 lost 5-2 to Oughtibridge. Mark Groves was on the score-sheet for Ecclesfield.
