NPL Division One South East Round-Up
Somersaulting Luke Mangham led Stocksbridge Park Steels to a remarkable late and epic 4-3 win over leaders Belper Town at Bracken Moor.
Chris Hilton’s Steels trailed three times and they were losing 3-2 with ten minutes to go when the former Garforth Town striker Mangham heroically intervened.
Belper, managed by former Ossett Town chief Grant Black, took a sixth minute lead through Piteu Cruz. Joe Lumsden cancelled that out with a poacher’s goal during a scramble from a corner.
Sam Wright put Belper back in front early on in the second half before Josh Nodder equalised with a deflected shot.
Former Stocksbridge hero Brodie Litchfield’s header restored Belper’s lead quite quickly.
A defeat was looming until Mangham’s bullet header levelled it – the striker celebrated by displaying his gymnastic skills.
If the Steels were happy with a point, they will have been ecstatic a minute later when Kurtis Turner’s shot was saved and Mangham turned home the rebound to win it.
Frickley Athletic lost 2-1 to Sheffield FC – Jonothon Margetts got Frickley’s goal.
