Jimmy Whitehead is the new manager of Barnsley-based Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League side Houghton Main.
Whitehead replaces Luke Forgione who left to take charge of Worsbrough Bridge last week and will be assisted by Dean Shirt and Joe Bedford.
Ex-Bridge player Whitehead was Worsbrough’s under 21s chief until leaving following Forgione’s appointment.
Whitehead and Bedford work together as Barnsley FC shadow scholars coaches.
He also currently runs the Momentous Football Academy with and ex-Barnsley player Martin Devaney.
Whitehead told Non League Yorkshire: “I am delighted to be given the chance to coach at first team level.
“Houghton is a wonderful set up and for me the pitch best pitch in Barnsley.
“I have a great coaching with me having brought in Joe Bedford and Dean Shirt who will help implement our philosophy, one which I know the players will enjoy and also the fans too.”
The new regime’s first competitive game in charge will be the visit of Oughtilbridge on the 24th.
