Toolstation NCEL Division One Round-Up (2)
Young Kieran Greenway staged an incredible one man show to rescue Harrogate Railway who came back to claim a point at Swallownest after being 2-0 down after 86 minutes.
It is the second time they have come back to draw from an ‘impossible’ position having drawn 4-4 at Winterton Rangers after being 4-1 down.
In horrendous conditions, Swallownest seemingly seized the points with two second half goals – the first on the hour mark.
Alfie Smith was presented with a simple tap-in after Railway’s defence carved open.
Sloppy defending in the final few minutes appeared to finish the visitors. A cross into the box from the left was not dealt with and Oliver Grady scored.
Then out of nothing, Railway suddenly found a chink of light when Greenway was played through on goal and the midfielder comfortably finished.
Quite how, that’s a different question, but as the game headed towards the final whistle, Greenway’s almost harmless free kick from almost the halfway line – deep down a one last ditch launch into the penalty area – was completely missed by the home goalkeeper and landed in the net.
Rossington Main remain in a lofty position after beating Hallam 4-2 at home.
Penalties from Tyla Bell and Spenser Sheppard plus goals from Micah Parsons and Jason Stokes guided Rossington to their impressive win.
Iren Wilson had put Hallam in front, but it all unravelled for them. Brandon Bradbury added a late consolation.
Ben Donoghue had Worsbrough Bridge dreaming of an eye-catching win at Winterton Rangers after he scored the opener.
But it wasn’t to be for Luke Forgione’s side who lost 6-1 and had a man sent off.
