Toolstation NCEL Division One Round-Up
New star striker Joe Jagger’s double helped Campion bounce back and return to the top of the table.
Campion were aiming to return to winning ways following their first league loss of the campaign on Saturday to North Ferriby.
Following a goal-less first half, Campion beat Hall Road Rangers 5-1. The score-line was perhaps harsh on Hall Road as two of goals came during injury-time.
Former Brighouse Town and Harrogate Railway forward Jagger broke the deadlock with a strike of the edge of the penalty area during a frantic start to the second half.
Hall Road responded quite quickly as in-form Rich Metcalf found the bottom corner.
But it wasn’t to be for Leon Sewell’s men as Campion regained the lead and enjoyed a comfortable finish.
Sean Hunter’s header made it 2-1 and an own goal from Chris Murray effectively sealed Campion’s win.
Jagger set up the fourth as it laid the ball on a plate for Paddy Sykes. Sykes then repaid the favour by playing a superb through which Jagger latched onto and scored from.
Armthorpe Welfare’s home game with Dronfield Town and Selby Town’s trip to Nostell Miners Welfare were postponed because of Covid-19 precautions.
