Wademan is Silsden’s hero

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Round-Up

Silsden hero Chris Wademan

Substitute Chris Wademan was Silsden’s hero as he hit the late winner in the 1-0 derby victory at Thackley.

Wademan buried a Leon Hurles-Brook cross from the right with just four minutes to go – enabling Silsden to snatch all three points from a tight encounter.

The victory – their third of the campaign – returned Silsden back to winning ways after two consecutive league defeats.

Garforth Town won 3-1 in a feisty clash at Handsworth thanks to goals from James Burgess, Sam Denton and Sam Barker.

Burgess netted the opener with a bottom corner finish during Garforth’s fast start which then saw Sam Denton head home against his old club.

Handsworth produced a quick response as Anthony Mackie brought them back into it.

Joe Colley set up Garforth’s third in the second half as his pass reached Barker.

Tempers then began to flare when a challenge from Andy Gascoigne led to the Handsworth player and Garforth manager Paul Marshall receiving cautions.

Gascoigne was later shown a second yellow card and Handsworth had nine men at one stage as Sam Smith was sin-binned.

Goole AFC, under the new management of Mark Pitts and Simon Portrey, carved out another good result by drawing 1-1 at ten man Knaresborough Town.

Goole survived a scare in the first half as goalkeeper Mat Zaniewski saved Ben Parkes’ penalty.

New signing Ryan Ferguson put Goole ahead in the second half and when Knaresborough’s Joe Ramplin was sent off after just ten minutes on the field, Goole’s position looks strong.

However a second Knaresborough penalty was won by debutant Joe Pugh and he stepped to score.
