Another one of the greats from the Mark Pitts’ Carlton Athletic era has joined Goole AFC.
Right winger Scott Burns has signed for Pitts and Simon Portrey’s men. He follows midfielder Andy Payne who committed to play for them on a permanent basis last week.
Burns was part of the Carlton side which dominated the West Yorkshire League Premier Division for several years, winning nearly every trophy going. Prior to Carlton he played for Robin Hood during the Ian Walker promotion season.
Portrey knows him as he managed him in the Yorkshire Amateur League representative team.
He has been most recently playing in for Middleton FC with players such as Chris Ovington and wing wizard Richard Collier.
Burns may get once chance to play before the expected pause due to the new lockdown measures which start on Thursday. That’s because Goole visit Grimsby Borough on Wednesday night.
Goole will be hoping to sign off on a high following two positive results – the draws with Knaresborough Town and Yorkshire Amateur.
