Simon Russell’s incredible team goal was the highlight as Tadcaster Albion were our only Northern Premier League side to enjoy a victory on Saturday.
Paul Quinn’s side sealed back-to-back wins by a domineering 3-0 Division One North West smashing of Kendal Town.
Tad were excellent throughout and the third goal – in the 74th minute was outrageously brilliant.
But before then Ofoegbu Ifeanyi and Bailey Thompson had put Tad in command.
The third goal began with risky one touch passing at the back, but it soon evolved into finely tuned attacking brilliance with power and penetration at the heart of the move. Tad broke into the penalty area and Russell was the man who finished it off.
Patched-up Division One South East side Stocksbridge Park Steels lost out to a late goal in the 2-1 defeat at Chasetown.
Steels have a lengthy injury and suspension list, but they still went to Chasetown and gave a good account. Debutant Charlie Cope’s equaliser was the stand-out highlight.
In the FA Trophy, both Frickley Athletic and Brighouse Town lost to Premier Division opponents.
Frickley took the lead at Hyde through Kegan Everington in their 2-1 defeat.
Second half goals consigned Brighouse Town to a 2-0 loss to Buxton.
