Toolstation NCEL Round-Up
Nostell Miners Welfare and manager-less Armthorpe Welfare have gone into the enforced break on major highs.
Nostell took in-form Parkgate apart in a 4-0 Division One victory to end a run of four straight league losses.
Two quick-fire first half provided a firm platform for Ian Walker’s men. Amir Berchill was the beneficiary of great play from Brett Smith and Alex Haigh for the opener which must have stunned Parkgate who beat the leaders Campion on Saturday.
Brandon Hughes-Miller then hit a worldie to double the lead.
Berchill got his second goal in the second half after converting a one-on-one opportunity.
Ash Austin added the gloss in the final five minutes.
Manager-less Armthorpe sealed back-to-back victories with a stunning 5-3 win at league leaders Campion.
After going behind in the 17th minute to a Sean Hunter goal, Welfare deservedly equalised on 27 minutes through Luke Williams.
Things got even better three minutes later as Paul Sherburn finished off a well-worked move to put Welfare ahead at the break.
James Arnold rifled in a 25 yard shot to make it 3-1 early in the second half, only for Edward Tordoff to pull a goal back on 65 minutes.
Substitute Brad McFadden saw his cross turned into his own net by Andrew McCreadie as Welfare again stretched their lead to two goals. Yet again Campion made Welfare sweat as Aiden Kirby scored a well taken effort from the edge of the box with nine minutes to play.
However, McFadden had the last word as he effectively ensured Welfare of the win two minutes later.
Ben Donoghue’s late goal secured a point for Worsbrough Bridge at Brigg Town.
In the Premier Division, Goole AFC lost 5-0 at Grimsby Borough, while Handsworth were beaten 2-1 by AFC Mansfield. Leon Howarth got Handsworth’s goal.
