Lee Morris has been confirmed as the new manager of Armthorpe Welfare.
It marks a quick return to the Non League scene for the legendary striker who left Worsbrough Bridge after four games into the Toolstation NCEL Division One campaign to take a break from the game. He had been at the helm of Worsbrough for almost three years.
Morris, whose achievements in management include guiding Worsbrough to a seventh place finish in 2019 and Goole to safety in 2016, replaces Mick Carmody. He has also managed Frickley Athletic, the club he served with great distinction as a player.
Welfare Chairman Steve Baskerville said: “I am delighted that we have been able to appoint a manager of the calibre of Lee Morris. He possesses all the attributes that we were looking for in a manager. There were some very strong applications and the committee had a tough decision to make but we are sure that Lee will prove that we have made the right call once we can get back to playing football again.”
