Grassroots sport is set to return after the lockdown

Grassroots sport is to return after the lockdown ends next week.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed this in a statement to the House of Commons on Monday morning.

The country will go back to the Tiered system so most of our Yorkshire clubs are likely to be affected by Tier 3.

This means at the very least clubhouses will not be able to open.

But given fears that the lockdown would be extended beyond December, it is a positive step in the right direction.

The FA have welcomed the Government’s announcement and have said Steps 3-6 can “look forward to resuming from 2nd December”.

It is also understood the North West Counties League have set a new provisional final day of June 12th which gives their clubs real hope of finishing the season.
