The Toolstation NCEL season has been suspended until at least January.
The decision was taken at an emergency board meeting after 80% of clubs said they did not want to play behind closed doors.
The league plan to reassess the situation after the 30th December.
37 of the league’s 40 clubs are in Tier 3 areas which the FA means they cannot have spectators present at matches.
The NCEL’ follow the Northern League, North West Counties and many other leagues in suspending action.
The Northern Premier League is yet to confirm their plans for December, but they are in the same boat with many of their clubs affected by Tier 3 restrictions.
