Nightingale in caretaker charge of Swallownest

Senior player Alex Nightingale has taken interim charge of Swallownest.

Ex-Worksop Town and Clipstone forward Nightingale will hold the fort for their two December fixtures – the home games against Rossington Main (19th) and Parkgate (Boxing Day).

He will be assisted by Darryl Johnson and Chris Esberger.

Nightingale fills the breach left by Jordan Stocks whose three-year reign ended this week.

Stocks was bizarrely banned from entering Swallownest’s ground for life following a decision made by the trustees of the Miners Welfare which owns the facility.

Stocks claims the ban was given to him when he was caught on CCTV “urinating into a drain” during the height of the pandemic and when no-one was present at the club.

It led to him unable to attend home fixtures and the now infamous photo of him watching the FA Vase win over Ashton Town from the nearby woodland.

The stand-off has failed to be resolved and Stocks agreed this weekend with the Football Club that his position was untenable due to being barred from managing the side at home.
