The FA should sit on their hands and wait for a clearer picture before making a judgement on the future of the season, according to Liversedge manager Jonathan Rimmington.
Although surveys for feedback from clubs on what to do have been sent out, The FA are clearly hovering their finger over the nuclear button nearly 12 months on from last year’s controversial null and void decision.
Several leagues including the Northern League have called for expunging this season and Rimmington fears deja-vu. The Toolstation NCEL is yet to publicly state their position.
“If we can play (in March) we can play, just see what happens,” Rimmington told Non League Yorkshire.
“Why do they need to make a decision now?
“We’re in the middle of something (lockdown) and there’s more important things so why not wait until March and see where we are?
“Null and void like last season would be ridiculous. They made a quick decision last year and got it wrong. They should have just waited and completed last season instead of starting the new season.
“I think it would be wrong if they do it (null and void) again.
“With the way they talking they are going to do it again and we are going to be starting again for the third time again in August which is wrong.
“If it (covid) gets worse, we don’t play, if it gets better then we see what we can do.
“If we get to March and we can play then I think we should get as many games as we can played between then and May. If we get to 75% of games in then we can PPG.
“People will say ‘oh you’re only saying this because you’re top of the league’. But I’m not.
“We just want to play. The mental health side of it for some players because they can’t play must be terrible.”
There’s talk of this govt withdrawing the conference div’s funding now, cos they’ve got us to start 20-21. Only offering loans now… With interest. Top deal, that. Every chance the club’s will ask to kill n void 20-21 now…
