Popular Non League figure Jason Dodsworth is back in the game after returning to Handsworth to join Russ Eagle’s management team.
Dodsworth will work with Eagle and Aiden Spowage and the Olivers’ Mount home dugout is bound to a quiet one next season…
The hugely-successful former Athersley Rec and Nostell Miners Welfare joint boss briefly assisted Mick Godber at Handsworth a few years ago.
Eagle told Handsworth’s website: “Jason brings a wealth of experience , desire and ambition to the club , he’s hungry to get back in the game after 12 months out for personal reasons and were really happy to get him in the club early as we begin planning our 21/22 season.”
Dodsworth added on the Handsworth website: “The work that has gone on in getting the club back to Handsworth is extraordinary and the pitch and facilities are some of the best in the league if not the best. Hopefully the management team can bring some excitement on the pitch which will keep the fans coming through the gates.”
“The club can progress to where it wants to go now and hopefully I can play a big part in helping that now and linking up with Russ, Spow and physio Kev (Elshaw) is exciting . We’ve already had our first zoom meeting and it was very positive I’m buzzing.
“From the junior section to the first team there has always been some great players and I want to be a part of bringing the young lads up to the first team.
“After having a year out through my own choice I couldn’t have asked for a better club to start back at. I pride myself with working hard and being a good man manager to the players as well as getting results on the pitch. I can’t wait to get going now.”
James Kay has left his first team coach role at the Ambers.
