Chris Bolder’s North Ferriby FA Vase heroes incredibly smashed Northern League giants West Auckland Town 4-0 to progress into the last 16 of the competition.
The 2012 and 2014 finalists were sent packing in East Yorkshire, mainly thanks to two early quick-fire goals.
The opener was from the penalty as new signing Danny Clarke was brought down. Jamie Forrester converted the spot kick.
A genuine piece of brilliance from Forrester then set up the second goal. Courtesy of some outstanding skills, the midfielder managed to escape from several Auckland players in a tight space in his own half before playing a killer pass to set Tom Corner away trough on goal. The former Tadcaster Albion striker kept his composure and finished well.
Ferriby had further chances and their goalkeeper Lewis Exall was also called into action to make a few key saves in the second half.
Ferriby were gifted the third goal three minutes from time as the visiting goalkeeper made a mess of a clearance and the mercurial Danny Buttle sent the ball into the empty net from 25 yards.
The former Bridlington Town winger’s and Ferriby’s day got even better two minutes later when he was able to round the goalkeeper to score his second and Ferriby’s fourth.
Ferriby will visit Rylands next week.
Unfortunately Liversedge were beaten 2-1 by Hebburn Town who reached last year’s yet to be played final.
Former Darlington striker Amar Purewal headed Hebburn in front on the half-hour mark.
That goal was quickly cancelled out as Tom Greaves equalised for Jonathan Rimmington’s men after going through one-on-one.
‘Sedge had chances at the beginning of the second half that they were unable to convert.
Mark McKeown’s goal for Hebburn with 20 minutes to go proved to be the difference, despite ‘Sedge’s late efforts.
The silver lining for ‘Sedge is that their sterling efforts over the last two years have been rewarded as the FA’s restructuring plan will see them win promotion to the Northern Premier League for the first time in their history.
