2021 League Cup Round-Up
Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915, Handsworth reserves and Kiveton Park have booked their places in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Matt Griffin’s Ecclesfield will finish second in GROUP C after Kenan McKenzie Grey and man of the match Declan Childes scored in the 2-1 win over Sheffield Town at Hillsborough College.
Hat-tricks from Regan Kelly and Matty Thornton helped group winners Swinton Athletic smash South Elmsall Services 8-1.
Enzo Guarini and Justin Greenwood also found the net for Swinton. Steve Nutter scored for South Elmsall.
Kiveton’s progression as the GROUP D runners-up is the fairytale of the competition so far.
With Penistone Church reserves falling to a 3-2 defeat at South Kirkby, Kiveton were through regardless of what happened in the home clash with Wombwell Main.
But Kiveton still pulled off another solid result by drawing 2-2 with Terry Simon’s Wombwell.
Rob Gorman and Kyle Skeldon struck for Kiveton, while Jordan Kershaw and Ryan Wingrove (penalty) were on the score-sheet for Wombwell.
In-form Handsworth recorded another fine victory with the 3-1 defeat of Jubilee Sports in GROUP C to book their quarter-finals spot.
Jack Charlesworth, Pat Muirhead and Ethan Hobson were on target for the Ambers.
GROUP A winners Dodworth Miners Welfare showed no love and affection for Denaby Main with their 5-2 romp in Doncaster.
Star striker Jack Owen (2), Liam Owen, Aaron Brotherton and Sam Severn were Dodworth’s sharp-shooters. Brothers Brodie and Jordan Cooper scored for Denaby.
