Ammers snap up prolific sharp-shooter

New Yorkshire Amateur striker Ross Duggan during his Swallownest days

Yorkshire Amateur have snapped up AFC Mansfield’s prolific sharp-shooter Ross Duggan.

Duggan scored 50 times in 47 appearances for Mansfield so brings plenty of pedigree to the Northern Premier League bound Ammers.

Duggan is also known for goal sprees with the likes of Maltby Main, Swallownest and Handsworth.

He is the fourth brand new signing at Bracken Edge behind Jon Stewart, Simon Ainge and Amir Berchill.

Joint managers Neil Sibson and Craig Ogilvie have also revealed several retentions – James Beaston, Adam Priestley, Roy Fogarty and Luke Dean.

  1. Id expected the NPL would split the 3 divs into bands- North central & south instead… West East & south… have you seen the clubs in these divs? Yorkshire Ammers have Dunston, etc, Brid and Lincoln also… Lincoln to Hadrian’s wall is a big journey to say the reason for the new structure is to allegedly reduce travelling.

  2. AND the midlands div will include several clubs in cambridgeshire- cambs city, Histon etc.(!!?!) Is there still gonna be a league cup in the glue lge in 2021-22? I wouldnt fancy workington – Histon on a tues night in Nov… travelwise anyhow.
Is there still the midlands div that Halesowen, sutton coldfld etc went to a couple of yrs ago? (at the same level as NPL) If so – why the hell arent cambridge ETC in it???

  3. The NPL looks to me like its covering the part of the map of England that a true Confs N div should. (and more!) THIS level should be NPL- scots border to roughly Mersey/Wash at most, then from there down to north london/severn estuary, then from there down to the south coast. These other 2 can be run by the Southern lge & the Isthmian people if they do not want to disband admin structures.

  4. THEN the step up – in standard AND travelling – would be
North …Scots border to the bottom of birmingham at most, the south div then being the rest of the country. INstead of it being confs v south and the ‘the rest’ as it is now. Possibly more travelling in the confs 2nd div ‘N’ than in the confs or EFL 4th div some seasons, which is crazy. Gateshead – Gloucester is far too far for that level. Hereford worcester brackley etc are all far too south
