Long-serving captain Will Lenehan has left Knaresborough Town after eight years of service, the club have confirmed.

The centre-half is no longer able to commit having relocated to Manchester for work reasons.

Lenehan made 268 appearances for the Manse Lane side and has been a key figure in some of the club’s greatest successes.

In his first season – the 2013/14 campaign – he helped Knaresborough win the NCEL League Cup at Valley Parade.

But his biggest contribution was as captain of Paul Stansfield’s runaway NCEL Division One champions team in 2018.

New Knaresborough manager Rob Hunter was aware of Lenehan’s upcoming departure, having mentioned it in his recent interview with Non League Yorkshire.
