Stancliffe returns to assistant role at Maltby

Maltby Main assistant manager John Stancliffe

John Stancliffe has returned to Maltby Main to be the assistant manager to Louis Axcell.

He replaces Dean Bamforth who made his decision to stand down after the 2020/21 season was curtailed.

Stancliffe was the assistant/goalkeeping coach during the Spencer Fearn era between 2015 and 2017.

He followed Fearn to Frickley Athletic – and briefly succeeded him as first team manager – and most recently he has been the number two at AFC Mansfield.

Stancliffe told Maltby’s website: “I’m thrilled to be returning to Maltby.  It’s a club I have always respected and I always hoped one day I would be back.

“Once I spoke to Louis I knew it was right for me to come back.

“I know we are going to have a great working relationship and with the legend Jamie Bailey a very strong managerial set up.

“We will be ready for the new season and all the challenges that come our way.”
