Showman Ryan Poskitt’s Silkstone United will face Athersley Rec Reserves in the Brian and Judith Bradley Memorial Cup Final next Saturday.
It will be like a Showman tribute day or testimonial as Poskitt’s company RP Construction sponsors both teams!
But what it is for sure, it will be a festival of football in Barnsley as the final will be played at Dodworth at 3.30pm – shortly after Dodworth have played unbeatable foe Swinton Athletic in the S&HCSL League Cup semi-final at 1pm.
Silkstone dramatically went through to the final after beating Kiveton Park Reserves 5-4 thanks to a late goal.
Silkstone’s side contains a host of ex or current Non League players including Lewis Akeister, Gaz Hunter, Andrew McManus, Sam Scrivens, Nenad Smiljanic, Mitch Wilshire and of course the Showman who will be chasing a further medal to add to his collection from a glittering career which has taken in spells with the likes of Pontefract Collieries, Worsbrough Bridge and Glasshoughton Welfare.
Brad Oates (2), Thomas Horsfield, Scrivens and Wilshire scored in the Kiveton win.
The Rec booked their place after winning 5-4 on penalties at AFC Dronfield after a 1-1 draw.
The Rec side contains familiar faces such as Adam and Ryan White, Dale Brettoner and Kyle Wordsworth.
