Former Swallownest boss Jordan Stocks has made his return his management ahead of the new season.
Stocks has become the joint manager of Selston of the United Counties League Premier Division North.
He will manage the team alongside Karl Steed.
Stocks’ loyal assistant, the quiet Lloyd Gelsthorpe will be the club’s assistant manager.
Selston is a village in Nottinghamshire.
Selston will take on the likes of former NCEL sides Long Eaton United, Skegness Town and Heanor Town.
Stocks was manager of Swallownest for three years and he established them as a NCEL club before his infamous departure in December.
It meant he had to watch at least one home match from the woodland at the side of the ground.
Eventually his role became untenable as the trustees would not reverse their decision and he was forced to resign in December.
So the N E Cts lge has lost some of its most southern sides. It doesnt reach as far north anymore – Pickering, Tad etc have gone up. Are Knaresboro the furthest north in there now? It used to cover a huge area for the level, 4 divs away from the football league. Whereas the NPL has been saddled with half of the country. The southern lge should get a similar area then. Cover the whole bottom half of the country
I actually think they would. If allowed. The problem for the pyramid is it IS lopsided. Too many southern teams & divs. The isthmian should be absorbed into the southern lge, then in reality the confs 2nd divs could go back to the NPL/SL (possibly). Instead the feeding divs are lopsided- 2 southern champs and 1 northern one promoted to the confs structure each yr. It perpetuates the imbalance & in truth the FAs tweaking makes no difference. Only normally makes things worse. Hence Histon & cambridge city joining the NPL structure for example. Crazy.
OR have proper southern league, NPL and a 3rd set at that level of true midland sides. 6 promoted feeding into confs divs then. Isthmian have to run the south, SL could run the midlands. NPL should not go further than the top of the Wash/Merseyside, so travelling AND numbers are more even.
